Huge Happy 17th Birthday to you Evie!

It's so great to hear that you're now 17 Evie - we wish you a massive Happy Birthday from up here in Glasgow!!

I sent you a parcel down to your home yesterday, but of course the Royal Mail is on strike just now. So, if our package arrives a little late then we're really sorry. Anyway, here is a wee collage of what we've sent to you - but that is not all...

Because it's your 17th birthday, I have also sent you a watercolour painting I did just before 2000, as you can see...

It's a hydrangea of course, and one of the last watercolours I ever made. I've written on the back of it:

"Dear Evie,

As your aunty who hasn’t seen you in a long time, I wanted to send you something for your 17th birthday. This is one of the last watercolours I ever did. I used to use it as though it was coloured pencils, rather than using the wateriness of it to show the texture of what I was trying to show! This hydrangea was just outside our bedroom window and when it fell off I brought it in. I love the varying colours of them when they’re on the turn.

Anyway, it would be lovely to hear from you if you’d ever like to. Lots of love aunty Lucy"

Anyway you can do with the watercolour what you wish, it just felt important to send you something!
