I've been trying something different!

I'll let you into a secret Evie and Rose. When I sit at my easel and starting with a blank canvas, the worst part of it for me is sketching the outline that I'm then going to paint. This is the bit I find the hardest and it annoys me when it's not quite right.

But due to the past year, I'm hoping that that's going to change. My longest friend who I met when I was four years old asked me whether I would do a portrait of her little boy, also called Jack. She asked me that over a year ago, provided the photo for it and I - in my spare time of which there isn't much lately! - began it.

Getting the outline was really important to me to make sure that she would see her son in there. So I spent a huge amount of time getting it just right. Constantly changing it slightly again and again. I showed it to my Mum (your Gran) every week to ask her opinion and we slowly got there. In the end your Gran suggested that I kept it as a drawing as it'd be a shame to cover it up ultimately - and I think she had a point. So after a year I have finally finished it and am wrapping it up to send down to Liverpool where she lives. So girls I'd love to hear your opinion - do I stand a chance in the drawing world of artists eventually, if I practice?
